Update on Wildfires and Screaming Circuits

Update for Thursday, September 24

The air is clear again, rain has fallen and we are back to 100% capacity. However we are not yet back to full-speed.

At one point, during the worst of the crisis, we had fires ranging from 15 to 6 miles distant with winds blowing toward us. We pulled all customer parts kits, trucked them out of the area and closed the plant for three days. Fortunately, the fires were stopped not long after that. All kits remained safe and are now back in the plant where they need to be. Those extraordinary measures caused a bit of a backlog and we are still clearing that up.

Some orders, especially 24 and 48 hour assembly turns may be delayed as we finish working through that backlog. We expect to be fully back to normal by Monday, the 28th.

Please contact customer service if you need information about the status of your order. All work is being prioritized based on requested turn-time and original scheduled delivery date.

It has been a long few days.
  • Tuesday, the 8th, gave us the first ominous sign, when I stepped out the front door at noon. The air at ground level was clear, but the smoke plume was boiling up and blocking out most of the sky like an impending Mordor-scale apocalypses.
  • Wednesday, the 9th, we evacuated the plant due to hazardous air quality and the volatility of the fire situation.
  • Thursday, we brought in trucks, loaded up every Screaming Circuits customer parts kit and drove them to safety.
  • Friday, with the immediate threat to life and electronics past, we turned our attention to the in-plant air quality and brought in air scrubbers and an environmental consultant.
  • Saturday, we dipped our toes in with a volunteer production crew.
  • Sunday, we brought the parts kits back in and resumed production.
  • Monday, we still had a few employees evacuated, but were able to ramp back to near full capacity.
We appreciate your patience during the challenging time and will provide updates as we have them.
